Vandoren CR1935 Bb Clarinet V.12 Reeds Strength 3.5; Box of 10
For the advanced player, V. 12 reeds are manufactured from cane tubes of the same diameter as those used for saxophone reeds, leading to a higher manufacturing cost as large diameter cane is more rare. Made from thicker cane, V. 12 reeds are recommended for long facing mouthpieces.
The thickness at the tip of a V. 12 reed is 0.10mm (0.004 inch), while the thickness at the heel is 3.15mm (0.124 inches), hence the name V. 12. In comparing strengths, a V. 12 strength 4 Reed is almost equal to a traditional strength 3 1/2 Reed.
The thicker heel with a longer palette results in more vibration, producing a deep, rich sound with body to the attack, and also leading to longer-lasting reeds. V. 12 reeds are also available in other strengths.
To ensure freshness, every reed is sealed in a 'Flow Pack'. V. 12 reeds can be purchased in a 50-pack (CR1935/50).
The overall purpose of the V. 12 reeds is to provide advanced players with a thicker and more durable option that can still produce a deep, rich sound. The higher manufacturing cost is justified by the improved playing experience and longevity of the reeds.
